Rental Periods

  • Where delivery and collection is required the rental period will include at least a day before you travel and the day after you arrive back to your starting address.
  • Where you collect/return yourself then collection and return dates are to be included in the rental period.
  • If you require the box several days earlier than your travel date, then make sure this is the date you reserve the box from.
  • Bike Box and cyclist/triathlete must travel together. No Couriers.

Delivery and Collection

  • This is a scheduled delivery/collection service that is planned up to a week in advance.
  • Deliveries and collections to a personal address only.
  • I will contact you to advise a delivery/collection date and time. If you are unable to be at home to receive your bike box please make sure there is someone else available or that there is a safe place for the box to be left/collected.
  • I may be able to offer an alternative date/time, but will be subject to my availability.
  • If this cannot be arranged then this service is not available and you will need to make arrangements to collect/return from/to me at my given address.
  • Your bike box will be delivered on the date you booked it for, at the latest. Any increase in the period you have the bike box, due to an early delivery or late collection, will not affect the rental cost.
  • Collection/return in person will need to be by private transport. Wheeling a box over roads and pavements for any extended distance can damage the wheels.

Payment

I will send you an invoice by email/iMessage/WhatsApp. This will usually be on the day you receive your bike box. The invoice is payable on receipt and includes bank details. Settlement is by internet bank transfer. Settlement by card is available for most EasyFit bookings.

Cash is also accepted

Cancellation

If you need to cancel please advise me as soon as you know you will no longer need the bike box, so that in times of high demand I can fulfil another rental request elsewhere.  There is no charge for cancellation.

If you have paid in advance and you need to cancel, then provided I receive 7 days notice you will be refunded in full, less acquiring costs where applicable. If you paid by card then those acquiring costs are 1.4% + 20p.  If you paid by internet bank transfer then there are no costs, and you will be refunded in full.  Refunds when notice of cancellation is less than 7 days will be at my discretion.

Loss and Damage to Bike Box

When you receive the bike box, I will not require a deposit but in the event of loss or irreparable damage I would expect you to reimburse me the full cost of a replacement box (Bike Box Alan Original £450, Triathlon Aero EasyFit £650).  Full disclosure: I have been involved in this business since 2015 and this has never happened.

It is understood that the box will receive various knocks and scratches during normal use, but this should not have any adverse effect on current or future functionality.  Foam, wheels and clasps are consumables and as such suffer from wear and tear and are periodically replaced.

Packing

You are responsible for making sure that your bike fits and that you are able to dismantle and pack your bike. On-line advice can be found on my website. Technical advice is available on the Bike Box Alan website. If in doubt Google it. I do not offer a packing service.

Care and Good Practice

When not in use make sure the box is closed with the anti-crush bar in place and the clasps properly sealed.  It should be kept out of direct sunlight and in a dry environment.  This will ensure that the box keeps its shape and the clasps are easy to align so the box will be easy to close for your return journey.

Please treat the box as if it were your own, and it would be appreciated if the box is returned in the same condition in which it was supplied.  Adequate protection around the chain ring, chain, cassette and derailleurs  (bubble wrap or old t-shirts) will help keep the box clean, and protect both the box and your bike from any unnecessary risk of damage.

Please also make sure that the box is returned with 2 x pieces of foam, the anti-crush bar and the quick release skewers (if supplied).

E-Bikes

To quote British Airways “Due to the potential fire risk, all small electric leisure vehicles powered by lithium batteries; such as, but not limited to, hover boards, air wheels, solo wheels, Segways, e-skateboards, e-scooters, e-bikes and hover karts are strictly prohibited on board, either in the cabin or as checked baggage.” I am therefore unable to fulfil any requests for a bike box of any type for the purpose of transporting an e-bike by air. Please dont even ask!!
